Thursday Maths

 This week one thing we have been  learning in maths is how to write expanded numbers. Another way of saying this is ‘expanded form’ or ‘expanded notation’. They all mean the same thing. It’s like you have to break the numbers up into their place value parts and then put + symbols in between them. Example: 

7239 =7000+200+30+9.

Creating a game

 This week, to end our procedure writing topic, we have been creating our own games. I made a worms and ladders game. My theme was worms and ladders.

HOW TO PLAY

1. Get 2 or more people to play.
2. Set the game up.
3. Roll the dice and move that number of spaces.
4. If you land on a worm go back.
5. If you land on a ladder, go up the ladder.
6. Continue until someone reaches the finish line.

For maths we have been working on our basic facts. Everyday we do a maths grid of basic facts.

 We have been learning to solve addition and subtraction problems using place value. We had to complete these problems using this strategy. I feel proud of using this strategy.

I am at Stage 4. I got 54 out of 60.
